Events with Knitting Iceland
Every Thursday our doors are wide open from 2-6 PM. We invite knitters in for hanging out, knitting, browsing through books or just to fondle our lovely yarn. If you are passing by on a different day please don’t hesitate to knock on our door, we are usually working at normal (-ish) office hours. The address is Laugavegur 25, 3rd floor, 101 Reykjavík, Iceland.

25. ágúst 2011: Spinning for beginners. Jessica Emory from New Hampshire learned to spin at the age of 8. She will teach spinning on a drop spindle. If you don’t have a spindle, you can make one at the class. More information about the class.
August 18-22, 2011: Knit Run Knit. Join Knitting Iceland and Annie Modesitt for a tour organized around the two major events of the Reykjavík summer, the Reykjavík Marathon and the Culture night. Let us introduce you to the best that the Northernmost capital in the world has to offer. During August the streets are vibrant with culture and colors. Knitters lurk on every corner and inspiration is ever present. Here is the full itinerary.
August 28-September 7, 2011: The south coast and the Faroe Islands. Join us for the fiberly experience of a lifetime! This tour features Véronik Avery and Katrína í Geil and takes you to two of the most exciting knitterly destinations in the world, Iceland and the Faroe Islands. Knitting will of course be a large part of the whole tour. The following formal classes and lectures are scheduled but the tutors will be a part of the group and available for more informal knitterly moments throughout the tour. October 28-November 2, 2010: meet us at the Icelandic Arts and Crafts Fair, Reykjavík, a great opportunity to see high quality Icelandic art and crafts and to buy something unique directly from the people making it.
September 10-11, 2010: meet us at IKnitWeekender, London, the biggest dedicated knitting and crochet yarn event in the UK.
September 7 and 8, 2010: knitting rockstar Ysolda Teague is teaching a workshop in Reykjavik in Knitting Iceland’s headquarters.
Agust 31– September 6, 2010: Knitting in the Wild North Retreat, this is a trip for the more adventurous knitter who enjoys mountains and a bit of hiking in the wild, in one of the most amazing geothermal area in the world. We are proud to present popular hand knit designer Ysolda Teague as our guest teacher.
August 13, 2010: Party tricks for knitters with Ragga at the lovely village Hólmavík in the West fjords of Iceland. The charming Hólmakaffi café is hosting this event.
August 6-9, 2010: Handverkshátíð Hrafnagili, one of the largest handicraft events of the year in Iceland. Now held for the 18th time in Hrafnagil close to Akureyri. Knitting Iceland participates along with a great variety of designers, artisans and handicraft experts.
June 17-July4, 2010: Loops, Nordic Knit Art hosted by the Nordic house in Reykjavík. A knitting and crochet extravaganza with lectures, events, courses and exhibitions. Knitting Iceland is a proud collaborator offering events such as a “meet the designer” lecture with Evelyn Clark, courses in Tunisian crochet and a seminar focusing on copyright issues in knitting design.
June 10–16, 2010: Arctic Knitting Retreat I: Our first knitting retreat featuring renowned lace knitting designer Evelyn Clark. Join us for a week of quality knitting time, spectacular nature, museums, LYS’s, horseback riding, sheep-farm visit, geothermal pool lounging and more. We also include some time in Reykjavík, the northernmost capital in the world – vibrant with activity in the summertime.
