You spin me right round

Irresistible handspun Icelandic wool

I come from a place where spinning is as popular as knitting and so it is different to see all of the fantastic things that are made here made with either unspun Lopi or mill-spun Icelandic wool.

There’s no doubt that the knitters here are amazingly talented (see last post- you know what I mean!). So here is my question: knitters out there, would you like to learn how to spin? I feel like all the knitters out there are a talented reservoir just waiting to be tapped. Not sold on the idea? Imagine being able to blend your own colors, making variegated singles (or 2-ply, 3-ply, 4-ply…), controlling the even quality of the yarn, how spun it is, being even more connected to your projects that you were before, and learning something new! If it sounds like spinning is for you (I bet you it is!), keep your eye open for upcoming classes and posts about making your own drop spindles! Until then, happy dreaming of spinning and, as always, happy knitting.
